The Podmore Foundation’s Board proudly announced seven Canberra-based scholarships at the annual Scholarship Presentation Lunch, which was held at the Royal Canberra Golf Club on Sunday 15 March 2015. Scholarships were presented by Professor Mick Dodson, and the special guest speaker was Kyol Blakeney, Podmore’s inaugural scholarship recipient and graduate.

He plays for his school in Rugby and Water Polo, as well as representing NSW in the junior polocrosse national championships. He studies Maths, English, Wood Technical, Business Studies, Aboriginal Studies and Religious Education. Lincoln’s Benefactors are Phillipa and Mike Hyde (Duntroon 1973), as well as Officer Training Unit Graduate Geoff Wilkinson and his wife Pamela.[/twocol_one_last]
[threecol_one] [/threecol_one] [threecol_two_last]Larissa is from Sarina, near Mackay, Queensland and is in Year 9 at Canberra Girls Grammar School, is the inaugural recipient of the ‘Warawitcha’ Commemorative Scholarship from Benefactors Malcolm and Julie Gilfillan. She is strong academically, studying wide range of subjects, and excels at netball and basketball. She was Captain of her netball team in 2011 and took them to the grand final.[/threecol_two_last]

She was the inaugural recipient of combined donations from Jon Stanhope, former Chief Minister, on behalf of the ACT Government, and Mary Porter AM, MLA and her husband, Ian De Landelles, as members of the Podmore Foundation to assist its work in supporting the education of Indigenous young people. Lyric’s current Benefactors are the family and friends of the late Gwen Breen. Lyric’s passion is writing and she has won several awards for her work. She plays touch Rugby and Futsal.[/threecol_two_last]

Mia is the inaugural recipient of an Australian Defence Force Academy Graduates’ Association Commemorative Scholarship. She was a school captain of her primary school in 2010. Mia is very keen on sport, representing her school and region in Australian Rules Football and Soccer in 2010. In 2011 Mia was voted the Players’ Player by her CGGS Soccer team in 2011 and was the leading goal scorer, helping her team win the grand final. Mitchell is from Geurie, NSW, near Dubbo, and is in Year 12, at St Ignatius Riverview, Sydney. received the 2011 Professor Mick Dodson and General Peter Cosgrove Scholarship for Leadership. Mitchell led the Australian Junior Polocrosse Team to South Africa in 2010 and represents his school in Rugby and Water Polo. He is also a member of the Rugby Development Squad at the Australian Institute of Sport. In 2012 he will be a Boarding House Proctor (Prefect) and is a House Vice Captain. His Benefactors are Duntroon graduates Glenn Crosland (1977), John and Jennifer Hands (1973) and Nicolas McLeod.
Rhianna is from Moree, NSW, and is in Year 10 at Abbotsleigh, Sydney.
