On a cold and wet day, the Podmore Foundation welcomed its supporters and scholarship recipients and proudly presented scholarships to its eight scholarship recipients for 2016. The guest speaker, Melinda Mitchell, a lawyer for the Royal Australian Air Force, gave a powerful speech on her experiences with education, and working with indigenous communities. Scholarship certificates were presented by Major General Roger Powell (Ret’d).

The Podmore Foundation is pleased to announce a recent decision to fund a French language immersion study trip for Tallon, an Indigenous student in Year 8 at St Edmunds College, Canberra.
The year commenced for the Podmore Foundation in a very poignant way with the inaugural Brigadier Damian “Dolly” Roche golf day on 7 January. Many of Damian’s friends and supporters turned out on a very warm day for a great round of golf at the Federal Golf Club.
At the recent Graduation Dinner and Presentation Night for Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) held at Parliament House on 1 December 2015, Larissa was awarded the CGGS Principal’s Award. Congratulations Larissa!
On 25 October at the Spring Lunch, the Podmore Foundation was pleased to invite Jessa Rogers as its guest speaker. At the Spring Lunch, Jessa gave a powerful, moving speech on her experience with Indigenous education, her life’s story and her interactions with Podmore’s scholarship recipients.
The Podmore Foundation Management Committee for 2016 was elected at the recent Annual General Meeting. Podmore wishes a warm welcome to its new President, Narelle Sargent, and its new Vice President, Mike Goodyer. Outgoing President, Dr Bob Breen, will remain as a regular Board Member, and outgoing Vice President Mike Hyde will remain as an ex-officio committee member.
The Podmore Foundation was delighted to host its annual Spring Lunch on October 25 at the Royal Canberra Golf Club. Podmore thanks all of its supporters and benefactors for attending the Lunch to celebrate Returning Opportunity in good company, and most importantly for their ongoing support to Podmore’s scholarship recipients.
