Scholarship Presentation Lunch 2015 Guest Speaker: Kyol Blakeney

Come along to hear an inspirational speech from Kyol, Podmore’s first scholarship recipient and graduate, and current President of the SRC at Sydney University.

The Podmore Foundation is proud to announce that Kyol Blakeney, President of the Sydney University Students’ Representative Council, will be the guest speaker at the Scholarship Presentation Lunch on March 15 at the Royal Canberra Golf Club in 2015.

Kyol, from Werris Creek, NSW, was one of the inaugural recipients of a Podmore Scholarship for his secondary education at Scots College, Sydney.

In 2008 at the beginning of his third year at Scots College, Kyol received an inaugural Podmore Scholarship and Podmore contributed $25,000 over the next four years to assist Yalari with his school fees and also to give him recognition and encouragement, including the award of the inaugural Professor Mick Dodson and General Peter Cosgrove Scholarship for Leadership. During his studies, Kyol was a Prefect and became the first Indigenous Pipe Major of the Scots College Pipe Band.

In December 2011, Kyol graduated from Scots College and received a scholarship to St Andrews College, Sydney University.  Currently in his third year of study to become a primary school teacher, Kyol was recently elected as the 87th President of the University of Sydney Students’ Representative Council (SRC).
