Trivia/Charity Auction Night for CDSS Podmore Scholarship – Great Success!

The Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies raised almost $19,000 for a new scholarship!

On Friday 20 June, the week after the Scholarship Certificate Presentation Lunch at the Royal Canberra Golf Club, a Trivia/Charity Auction Night at the School Hall at Canberra Girls Grammar School was held by the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies (CDSS) to raise funds for the  CDSS Class of 2014 scholarship.

CDSS students studying at the Australian Defence College, Weston Creek, have selected the Podmore Foundation as their charity for 2014 and decided to donate $5,500 for a Podmore scholarship in the spirit of ‘Returning Opportunity’ for their privileged education. Angelina, from Leeton, NSW, a new Year 7 boarder at Canberra Girls Grammar School in 2014, is the recipient of the CDSS 2014 Commemorative Scholarship.

The event was a huge success:  over 70 people attended the event, and total funds raised during the campaign nearly came to $19,000. CDSS hopes to continue fundraising to $20, 000 by the end of the year so that Angelina’s CDSS 2014 Podmore Scholarship will support her for four years of her secondary schooling at Canberra Girls Grammar School.

All of us at Podmore and CDSS thank the Royal Military College Band for the live music, Canberra Girls Grammar School for use of the School Hall, Wok Me Noodle Bar, Fyshwick for providing the catering and all of the Canberra businesses and Polo De’Marco magazine for donating charity auction items.
